The composition features three nude female figures in a snowy field with a forest backdrop. The choice to depict the figures undressed pays homage to ancient Grecian statues and mythology, celebrating the purity and timelessness of the human form. The figures are adorned with leaves in place of hands, symbolizing their deep connection to nature. They are the blending of the Naiads and Dryads from Greek Mythology. The Naiads are nymphs of flowing water—springs, rivers, fountains, and lakes. They are represented as beautiful, lighthearted, and beneficent. Dryads are tree nymphs or spirits that live in trees and take the form of beautiful young women. Originally associated with oak trees, the term "dryad" has evolved to refer to all tree nymphs.
